Pow Wow in Kensington, GA

This past weekend I ventured to a little community in north Georgia called Kensington to hear the sound of the pow wow drum. When I was 12 years old my parents enrolled me and my sister into Wabigoon Elementary School in Ontario, Canada (close to the Wabigoon Lake Ojibway Nation Rez). Pow wows were held regularly in the gymnasium ... sweet grass and all. It was the norm. At the time, it put this little missionary kid out of his comfort zone but nowadays I find myself missing the sound of the drum, the smell of the sweet grass, the sight of the dancer.

This pow wow turned out to be quite small but we met some nice folks including Wolf and his wife Jenni (who are seen in these photos). Thanks for dancing in the heat, guys. See you on the pow wow trail.

This gentleman's name is Wolf and the regalia he is wearing was handcrafted by himself.
